Sweet swimming spot just on the other side of the bridge. Perfect launch for rafting or floating down river and family friendly.

There's so many places you can start and end. So much fun! Be safe and wear a life jacket or at least have one nearby. An oar is a great help. There's some rocky areas, so watch your butt! There's also 1 or 2 crazy rapids that can flip you, so be careful. Don't litter!! Some areas will provide you with a yellow trash bag. Be safe and have fun!

I'm sad to see how Barton has changed over the last 2-3 years. We have a large RV and have always stayed in the East Campground which is reserved for RVs. The trees and bushes are now overgrown so that they hang over the roads and campsites. I get the "pinstripe" type scratches on my RV when I drive through the reservation lane. Then I try to dodge the rest of the branches. They have also "progressed" to a new online reservation system. No longer can you reserve through the camp host or the rangers at the park. I think that must be why they put up "Campground Full" signs at the entrance of both campgrounds. But the campgrounds aren't even a third full. Also the grassy middle area of the East Campground used to be mowed so kids could play ball and run around there. Now it is just left dry and overgrown. It looks like it would fuel a grass fire pretty easily. There are 5 individual shower rooms. Three of them are locked up, one of which is the ♿️ accessible one. So only 2 are available for use. The picture below shows what one looks like. Finally, the prices have skyrocketed over the last 2 years. For you Oregon residents it has gone from $28 a night to $37 a night in that time. I'm a non-Oregon resident. I travel here each year to visit my relatives in Oregon. We like to stay for a month or so. We've spent lots of money at the local businesses. We've attended the churches. We've visited and financially supported local schools. We have volunteered in local communities. But now Barton has decided to raise their non-resident rates to $46 per night! That's up from $28 just 2 years ago. It's now cheaper to stay at a nice RV resort with full hookups at their weekly rates. And of course there is an additional $11 fee to use the online reservation system. If I were to book a Friday and Saturday weekend it would cost me $103! I'm sorry to see all this happen. I miss the old Barton. I can only assume that Barton no longer wants out of state campers at their park. By the way, if anybody wonders why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 star just look at the last picture. Update: We came back to Barton for a few days, and we could see positive changes. The long dry grass was mowed. A lot of the trees were trimmed. The broken fence was repaired. The "Campground Full" signs are now only up when the campgrounds are nearly full (maybe some were reserved by no-shows). Hopefully these are signs of change, and they'll keep working towards a better run park like it used to be. They've still priced us out, but if I were an Oregon resident it would be a place to where I'd return.

Pretty cool place the police are always there and it cost money to park about 8 dollars for all day. It is a pretty good place to go rafting at or inner tubing

Super unfortunate. We came in on Friday, there is a bees nest in the fire pit in an area I can’t get to without spray. We notified the camp host after our daughter was stung - nothing. Waited until 7pm the next night to ask again and was greeted with an angry response and nothing done. Major bummer because we are local and love to camp local.

I visited this campground today. My parents were staying but I was just a visitor. but we had issues as soon as we arrived here. First of all, they lock the gates at 9 and 10PM. You can’t leave or come back. It’s incredibly strange, I’ve never been to a campground where I wasn’t allowed to come and go freely from my campsite. It also felt as though the staff here are incredibly strict and nosy. They follow their weird/uncommon park rules to a T instead of just using common sense. The campground was basically empty other than 3 other people and a few fishermen. We went to the only covered area to have a snack and immediately got scoped out by the park host/worker. Instead of saying hello and nicely telling us that we were in a “reserve-only” area, he tried to be sneaky about it and rode back and fourth a few times, just watching us, until we decided to just go up to him and confront him; and were met with a rude attitude saying that it was a “reserve only” area. Was he going to just ticket our cars instead of actually communicating? Seemed like it? Also it’s a pretty dumb rule to enforce when the whole park is empty, and it’s pouring rain. All of the other picnic tables were not available because they were all stacked against eachother. It felt like having incredibly strict parents micromanaging you. So I wouldn’t go here if you want any semblance of a normal camping experience. I thought the nature was very beautiful and the campground itself is nice. But my parents and I agreed that the workers here need to chill out..

Barton Park is so spacious and beautiful it is worth the drive out. With so much space and spaces sectioned throughout the park it makes the park feel very intimate. This is a great park for fishing and picnicing.
